This site is a love letter to a dead format, but that’s no reason to lock anyone out of it. The aim is WCAG 2.2 Level AA, and most of the way there already.
What works
Everything can be operated by keyboard. The spacebar plays and pauses, the arrow keys rewind and fast-forward, and every button and window can be reached by tabbing. Focus is always visible, and dialogs return you to where you were when you close them.
The Pit Viper video has closed captions. They stay off until you turn them on with the CC button at the top of the page, and once you do, the site remembers.
If your system asks for reduced motion, the flicker, drift and roll all stop. Nothing autoplays with sound. The layout reflows down to a 320-pixel screen without sideways scrolling, and text carries proper contrast against the dark room.
What doesn’t, yet
Viper Sniper, the shelf game, needs a mouse or a touchscreen. It’s a hidden extra rather than part of the main event, and rebuilding it for keyboard play is more than it warrants right now.
The captions cover the spoken words. Two short stretches of music and sound effects aren’t described yet.
The whole site is a picture of a television, so a screen reader describes the controls rather than the picture on the tube. The video itself is the content; the cabinet around it is set dressing.
